Hello to the Fediverse :)

Hello, people out there on Mastodon, Pixelfed, or whatever platform you use!

You might have seen a weird collection of old posts reposted by my account today!

This has been just me cleaning up minor stuff – not knowing that I have to turn off federation explicitly to avoid blasting out these old posts again!

After a handful of posts and a few notifications of reposts of them I realized what was going on. You should be safe now, but I cannot guarantee no antique post ever will escape again!

This post is illustrated best with my 2024 drawing “Cathedral of Math” – as it has a history of blunders as well: I created the first version of this perspective construction fully freehand. But then I ruined by … confusing silver coating spray with transparent varnish.

But I rebuilt it, like Notre Dame, this time with ruler and compass:

Using this name, you can find me on all sites that speak the same protocol as Mastodon etc.

I am using the WordPress plugin ActivityPub which turns my WordPress blog into something like a little Mastodon-instance.

This is quite interesting to play with: It blurs the boundaries between “real” long-form blogging and social media.

Currently my options for interaction are a bit limited: I can see your likes and comments in the fediverse which are also mirrored here, and I can reply back (here on my blog and the reply is federated back).

I can follow you back and see your posts but not yet interact with them.

And I cannot delete something from my own timeline (easily), obviously :)
