elkement Art Spotted in the Real World!

“Modern and Traditional”

This sounds like a clichéd slogan. But I cannot get it out of head when I see the photos a customer of my art store kindly has sent me!

Digital art created with code (No AI) is as “modern” as it can get. When I initially thought about printing my art, another cliché had invaded my brain first:

Prints on cool and sleek slabs of acrylic and metal, reminiscent of the screens where the art lives naturally.

In a nerd cave with dark painted walls. In a gaming room.

But suddenly I got attracted by the more traditional, “organic”, “soft”, and textured print surfaces: Blankets, pillows, and canvas prints.

When it comes to pillows, I have picked the linen-like fabric over the more synthetically looking one with less texture – even if that meant I could not use designs with extremely fine lines.

The only smooth and shiny thing I have used so far are coffee mugs! But here my printed watercolor pencils drawings in pastel colors reminded me of iconic vintage coffee sets!

Unwittingly, I have tried to merge “modern design” with “traditional home decor”, I guess.

But all of that has been theory – maybe just post hoc rationalization of my choices of these print-on-demand products for other reasons. I also like canvas prints for their easy hanging, and the pillows and mugs because they are two-sided “free-standing” objects that can host two different artworks.

I think after you have been tinkering with your own images for weeks, you need a fresh perspective.

And there it was – in my mailbox: elkement art spotted in its true natural habitat – in a creatively designed living room!

It is such an honor when somebody wants to see my creations in their personal space every day!

I had not expected that my art generated with code would go so well with a traditional, artisanal masonry stove with hand-painted tiles (really an artwork in its own right) and with cute decorative gnomes! Modern and traditional art united!

Photo of a canvas print with mathematical abstract art, mounted on the wall near a white masonry stove that features a few painted tiles in colors similar to the ones of the print (gold, pink, brown). Mantelpiece decorated with XMas ornaments. Math art by elkement 2025.
Oscilloscopic Dance 4 by elkement 2025 – featured near a masonry stove. Same environment as in the first photo.

This print is number four in a series of four, called Oscilloscopic Dance: Each one shows the same set of 3D Lissajous Figures dancing with each other, rendered as metallic tubes, seen from a different perspective.

See more images of the the complete series of Oscilloscopic Dance canvas prints here.

The size of these prints is 12″ x 12″ x a canvas frame depth of 1.25″ (30cm x 30 cm x 3cm). So, they are on the smaller side, and the thick frame gives off “3D box vibes”.

The canvas has a shimmering surface which is only visible if it is illuminated by direct light.

You can see this effect here, in a photo taken with a flash:
